ALL AGES ARE BASED OFF THE MEMBERS AGE ON OCTOBER 1ST OF THAT 4-H YEAR.



-Grades Kindergarden thru age 7 on October 1st are Primaries
  These members can do everything except show and handle horses. That means they can participate in Judgings, complete Record Books and do public presentations. 



-8 thru 10 years old on October 1st are Juniors
  These members can do everything, including showing and handling horses. But they can't participate in the Medals, State Fair equine exhibit or Green Horse programs. They can enter a blue educational poster and compete with their public presentation at the state level.



-11 thru 13 years old on October 1st  are Intermediates
  These members are free to participate in every program (with a project horse on file by April 1st), they are also eligible for state competition. 



-14 thru 18 years old on October 1st are Seniors
  These members are also free to participate in every program (with a project horse on file by April 1st), they are also eligible for state competition. 

-A members is too old for the 4-H program the year they are 19 on October 1st of that 4-H year. 



-Novice is a riding level, not an age division. These are riders that can not canter safely. Novice riders must be in their 1st and 2nd year of showing. Once the rider is in their 3rd year of showing and/or shown with their age division they are no longer eligible for the Novice program. The Novice Program is optional, if they know how to safely lope/canter they can begin with their age division.
