President’s report, Cindy; Reported on the necessity for people to attend the King County meetings about the 4-H budget.

Vice President report, Tricia;  Still accepting rules changes till the committee meeting even though they were due by this leaders meeting.  Meeting possible November 12th.

Secretary’s report, Sheilla; Tricia moved to accept minutes as posted, minutes accepted.

Treasurer’s report, Paula; There is still not a quorum present to vote on the reimbursement motion on the table, will hopefully vote at the November meeting.  All clubs that have failed to pay their barn duty fees have been contacted.  Current balance $3255.37, with $1500 of that is the donation in memory of Millie Rude.

Correspondence, Cindy; Lori Greer sent a letter from Nancy at Reber Ranch asking if one of our clubs would like to host the snack shack at one of their events on November 8th and 9th.  The Golden Horseshoes has committed to this.

            A letter from Diane Heath from an older couple that would like to donate their horse equipment to 4-H as a fundraiser.  It was not specified as to what the equipment was.

Old Business;

Association report, Cindy;  $10,000 has been requested to save a secretaries position for 3 months, the money would come from enrollment fees,  they plan on voting on it at an association meeting.  They have offered email voting in the past, will report if it is offered for this issue.

Forum is this weekend.

Registration fee has been raised to $11 for all horse members.

Kari Carlin is the new Western Games Medals chair.

There are a few more chairman positions still available, Novice, Education, Performance equipment and Recognition are awaiting confirmation of past chair.  The remaining positions will be brought up in November due to the low attendance at this meeting.

It was voiced that there should be more clinics offered to 4-H members with a sensitivity towards those who may not be able to afford much.

New Business;

There will be a town hall meeting in Enumclaw from 5:30 to 6:30 at the Library to discuss the budget and then at 6:30 at the field house by the fairgrounds to discuss the future of the NW Expo center.

State Fair, Jim Luty; Gave a report of his conversation with Tom Gwin.  It was reported that 4-6 girls entered the State fair on the 1st day by informing the ticket person that their leader had their tickets and she was dead.  Katrina, the horse barn superintendent, stated that she recognized them as being in the King County area of the barn.  It was not brought to any one from King County till the end of fair, where Tom Gwin stated that King County Seniors would not be allowed back.  Jim asked each leader to talk with their members that attended State fair to see if they heard anything.  Jim had a phone conversation with Tom this week and after explaining to him the steps that we have taken, he seemed satisfied.  It will be discussed at forum.

It was further discussed at this meeting that there does seem to be a definite sense of entitlement with some of the team members, and that is not the message that we want our county giving.  The leaders agreed that this should be used as a learning experience of what not to allow to continue in the way of attitude.

Expo Center;  Kari Ward was invited to attend a meeting about the Expo Center.  They talked about how they would like to have an indoor arena and horse barn that would house 300-600 stalls.  They are also talking with breed horse organizations about the barn and arena footings.  They are looking in to the possibility of private funding.

Committee reports;

Education, Tricia;  Planning on having several clinics this year including dressage and over fences.  Interest was expressed in Trail and Novice clinics.

Kim Giglio asked, since there are several in circulation, what record book to use.  It was agreed that if you plan on turning it in at the county level to be judged, you need to use the one offered by the extension office.  However there is one that is downloadable that was made by a dog 4-H group, there is also one made by Secretary Sheilla Hagedorn, that is designed specifically for the horse 4-Her, in excel format.
